A private collector paid \u00a3550,000 for the 1927 4.5-litre Bentley which Leslie&#8217;s caddish car dealer sells naive Stanley Baxter in the classic 1963 Ken Annakin directed comedy. Leslie, who had been offered the car by the film&#8217;s producers after filming wrapped, was delighted to pose with the car, lovingly restored and looking better than ever: &#8220;God, I SHOULD have bought it, shouldn&#8217;t I?&#8221; he said with a twinkle in his eye.
